Help: Would You Buy This?????????????

Hi I am new to vans. Had lots of Fine Ford PUs, But not vans.
My Question is Would you buy a vehicle with 265,000 MI on the coo coo.
My other question is Convesrion of 5.8 L to inches. ie 350 400 etc.
This van is pretty cheap, got a carfax on it It is bieing sold by the original
owner. Thanks for the help! The carfax did not find any problems.

Funny you should mention that. My '95 Clubwagon has 265,000 miles on it. The motor has lost a little of is edge but otherwise runs strong and reliable. I did the transmission at 235,000 when I noticed the roller clutch letting go on occasion.

Would I buy my van now? That depends on what I was going to use it for and what it would cost. I know that my van has been maintained to very high standards and is in excelent condition. I recently towed half way across the US and back with no problems. There have been the little things that you expect to have go wrong. I had to replace the fuel tank filler tube, the AC compressor (and collateral stuff), heater core, fuel pump, idle air control motor, thermostat, etc... But it has been as reliable a vehicle as you could possibly expect. But again, it has been well maintained.

The 5.8 liter motor is a 351 (cubic inches) Windsor. Good solid engine. Mine is a 5.0 which is 302 cubic inches.

a 5.8L is a 351. you would have to give more information on the van before anyone could give you advice IE year, model etc,. but you need to think about how the miles were put on. on a conversion van they probably aren't very hard miles. but you cant just go by how many miles, you have to think about how well it runs, the shape of the body, etc etc.

Also the ford Econoline chassis is the same used on the f series.

I have also found that alot of the other parts are the same, such as exhaust manifolds, y-pipe and a host of other parts. I put a set of headers desiged for a 5.0 f-150 on my 5.0 van and they fit no problem.

Also, as a guideline, each liter of displacement equals a little more than 60 cubic inches.
