Big Block Contest
Primedia is sponsoring a big block shootout in 2003 between Chevy, Ford and Chrysler engines. Basic rules (there are a LOT more) are 470ci, flat tappet cam, single carb, 2500-6500rpms. Anyone can apply to enter (doesn't mean everyone will be accepted). Prize, with contingency money, is over $100k, so there's a huge amount of interest. Consensus is that it'll take 750+hp to win. With that kind of money, the pros are involved. The 385 forum is talking about sponsoring a collaborative entry or two and there's some great 385 info flying around.

Sounds like a fun challenge. I would like to help. Please let me know how plans are progressing. I'm a mechanical engineer and volunteer to help in whatever way is best.

Big Block Contest
The group from the 385 forum that's going to enter the contest doesn't have any formal structure, like a non-profit incorporation, and I tend to avoid participation in situations that have possible liability exposure. They are collecting money, all described on the forum.
