You know I was looking at auctions today and saw one for sale in Missouri or Kansas. I think it was at a gov auction but for the likes of me can't find it now. I'll keep looking.

I just read your whole story, I'm glad it all has worked out finally. I hope you get the CA job if you want it. Your van will be a great parts car if nothing else. Even if the floor was bent it might be able to be straightened, a frame machine should do it if a parking lot pole wont. It will need snatched HARD! But that would prob affect the alignment if the frame rail buckled clear back to the floor. Prob weakened it too. Deer are tough aren't they? And the air bags aren't cheap either. What insurance company are you with? I'd like to get with them!! : )

When my 93 SHO was killed by a deer, my insureance totaled it and sold it back to me for $139, they gave me $3000 for it.

Find a body parts wholesaler in your area. They frequently charge less than junk yards and the parts are new and perfect. Your van looks perfectly repairable in your yard to me. I have done this many times and given that the aero is a bolt together car, it is quite easy and rewarding.

Also remember that the insurance company needs to satisfy you with what they pay you. You do not have to take their offer unless you agree that it is fair. I had two wrecks one year (not my fault) and it surprised me how honest and fair the insurance companies were.

VanGo, I'm not familar with the process. I had never totaled a vehicle before. The adjuster mentioned that the rules had changed, and they would allow the insured to keep the vehicle less salvage price and deductible. The good thing, is that the title doesn't get the dreaded "salvage" tag.

Handyman, I'm with American Family. They aren't the cheapest I've found, but have been very good with any claims I've had. (two deer now). We did manage to get the ins. co. to up their offer for the van up a couple of hundred $.

I've wimped out and sold the van to my friend. Needless to say he was quite happy to get his mitts on it. He now owns two aerostars. He was intending to use it for parts, but now is considering repairing it. The high mileage on the van may be the deciding factor on that.
