I need some thoughts on why a 1990 460 EFI will not start. It turns over great ! Plenty of fuel. Even pored a little down in it. But it has no fire at the plugs. I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe one of you have a idea. Here is some of the things I have found out.
The coil has :
2- "Hot" Tan/Yellow wires
1- "Hot" Red/Green wires
1- "Hot" Red/Green condenser wire
The plug just
before the
distributor has:
1- "Hot" Red/Green wire
1- "Hot" Black/White wire
1- "Dead" Black wire
1 "Dead" Gray/Orange wire
1 "Dead" Orange wire
The Distributor
has 7 wires going
into it.
1- "Hot" Red wire
1- "Dead" Black wire
1- "Dead" Black/white wire
2- "Dead" Green wires
2- "Dead" Black/Yellow wires
Maybe a wire is dead or not hot that should be. If you know, what could it be. Or were should I look ?? THANKS !!!!
The TFI modules were back about going bad in the early 90's from overheating. I once saw a home-made picture of how to relocate the TFI module away from the distributor to overcome this.
THANKS A LOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You were right about the TFI Module. I found the plug had bad connections in it. So I went by or local junk yard and got a good one off another truck. And it started. GREAT !!
Then I went to the auto parts house and went on and bought a new module to install while I was at it. I know some of them are located on the distributor, but mine was located on the inside of the fender.
THANKS AGAIN !!
