transmission compatibility
i had a 73 F100 given to me yesterday. It has a 390 engine which appears to be toasted.I have a 69 E150 van with a nice 302 in it.The van has some terminal issues so I want to put the 302 in the truck. I BELIEVE the tranny in the truck is a c6(it's big), I believe the van tranny is a c4.Can i put the 302 in front of the c6?Or are c6s model-dependent as I read elsewhere on here?If it will bolt up which converter should I use? If it wont bolt up can I just put the c4 in the truck without too much drama?will I have some tailshaft/length issues?
thanks in advance

In 1978/79 the 302 was offered with a C6 for the first time.
No E150 Econolines till 1975. 1969/74 = E100 / E200 / E300.
Is your 1973 F100 a 390? On sale day, 360's magically become 390's.
4th digit of the VIN is engine code: H = 390 / Y = 360
