I was just thinking about cable as we know it. There are so many channels with such a wide variety of topics that I don't really understand how they make money. However, I started thinking about which channels I would keep if I could only have three:
My wife loves HGTV, so that would be one (I like it, too, and it has really saved us money doing things ourselves). I would have to have ESPN, but the third one would likely be either Spike TV (we watch a lot of CSI/ Law & Order type shows and there are always reruns of them on Spike) or Discovery HD, simply because some of the scenery is breathtaking.
Fox News (wish they had HD)
Discovery (we don't get the HD, only Discovery HD theater, which isn't the same)
ESPNHD
I'd have to put up an antenna then so I could get the network HD channels, since many of the Colts games are played on CBS. I also watch plenty of the History Channel, and always forget to check the Military Channel. I do like watching Max-Ex on Spike from time to time, too...
Speed
Outdoor Channel
Fox Sports North
I personally just have basic cable now because of how expensive expanded basic and satellite is. I cant see paying $50+ a month when I dont watch 90% of the stuff thats on there.
I mostly just care about watching snocross racing and the snowmobile-related shows that are on from November-April.
