well this is a new one on me. I just got back from the dealership for a possible rear main leaking. The diesel tech told me the intake gaskets are leaking and they will replace them under warranty. has any one else had this problem? I noticed a sound and wrote it off as a turbo fart but it started getting longer in duration and more frequent, it also happened under acceleration and deceleration. the sound is really hard to explain is sounds like a long drawn out squeak. just a heads up for you guys that my have this.
What is the difference between and Up-pipe and a down-pipe please. Are these two different pipes? (I define the down pipe as the section that runs from my exhaust manafold down to my cat.) What/where is my exhaust Up pipe? thanks rc
well bad news bears i went to start my truck today and looked like it was dead so i dragged the battery charger out and jumped it and it started but when i was getting around to close the hood i had oil spraying every were so i ran back and shut it off real quick. Looked under the truck and found a belt tensioner tool and big metal fragments laying underneath with 15 quarts of oil. When i took the truck in the guy worked on it forgot to take the tool out and it shot out when i started the truck taking part of the oil system or block with it. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow at home and we will see what happens from there BUT they will never touch my truck again. I know the dealership caused this because they were going to change the belt and check the oil leak at the same time. I'll keep you guys posted.

the up pipes are the ones that deliver the exhaust from the manifolds up the back of the motor and into the turbo..
the downpipe is the big one that comes after the turbo and delivers the exhaust from the turbo to the cat or the tailpipe..

oh my god that is horrible ! ! ! please keep us posted on this. .. did they accept responsibility and are they going to fix your truck ???
well minus the small temper tantrum i threw after it happened(thank God it was a Sunday and they weren't open) I calmed down and realized that accidents do happen and the mechanic that was at fault was a very good family friend. The owner of the dealership is also a really good family friend and they are taking care of the repairs and then some so all is forgiven as long as they get my truck back to me before my trip i have planned
