I have a 2000 F53 motorhome with the V10, complete Banks system, 36,000 miles with 8,000 miles on the plugs. My problem is very intermittent. When it malfunctions, the engine and ABS lights come on, and the engine either won''t start or starts and has difficulty running and then stalls. I installed a ScanGauge to read the codes when it malfunctioned, but there are no codes present when I scan the computer. After turning it off and on several times, the engine the starts and runs fine. The lights do not stay on and don't have to be reset. Any suggestions?
Intermittent electrical problems are almost impossible to diagnose in the real world. Even more difficult to diagnose in our virtual one. So, even though I can't really give any guidance, I sure do wish you the best of luck and hope you come back and tell us what you find.
sounds like it might be the computer itself, or first check to see that your battery does not have a dead cell in it, or a corroded terminal,I know it sounds silly , but i have seen some really weird stuff happen on computer controlled vehicles because of low voltage to the ECM. check the voltage with a load on the battery , like with the headlights on .
Thanks for the replies. My battery voltage is good and showing a charge rate of 13.9 to 14.2 volts. Guess I'll disconnect the battery for awhile and then reconnect. Then I'll wait and see.
