If you had to touch the gas pedal to "get on it", then yes that will kick it down. If you want it to stay up for a longer period of time, then turn the round black piece on the carb in the richer direction. If you go too far in the richer direction, then this will be noticed as a lope in the engine and black exhaust smoke.
