i have a 83 f250 with a 460 and a c6. i have fuel and spark. i have examined all the vacuum lines and cant find any brittle, cracked or loose vacuum lines. the truck cranks and cranks and cranks but doesnt start ??????
good spark at the plugs, when i changed the plugs yesterday they had fuel on them and i believe the compression is good, i had the truck running last saturday or sunday by spraying starting fluid in the carb, i do have fuel spray in the carb...
what does fuel on the plugs mean, what would it do? just foul the plugs?
How's the timing look on her?Sounds like it could be out quite a bit.....check it when you check the compression...cause like he said.....fuel air spark and compression equals boom...Luck
If the plugs are fouled with fuel, it will not fire. You will need to take them out and clean them up, or get new ones.
Then you need to figure out why all the fuel is going down in the engine. If you look down the carb after cranking it, and you see fuel dripping off the boosters down into the engine, then the float is stuck in the carb, and the fuel bowel is overflowing into the engine and flooding it. Probably a piece of dirt or rust sticking the float valve open. That's a classic problem when working on an old truck with rusty fuel tanks.
putting a carb on tomorrow... i have a fuel, spark and compression so, i am throwing on a holley 4160 to replace this 4180... what kinda problems do u think ill have?? same ones>?
