FLAPS is the place down the street that has the words Auto and or Parts as part of the name on the building. Once inside you find chrome stuff, oil and air Fresheners.
HAMB:
A forum for hot rodder and customizers who mostly flame each other's projects and each other. Quite the opposite of this forum. I go there on occasion when bored to look at some of the pictures, but after reading a few of the posts, I quickly return to my friends here.

+1. It seems you have to duck and cover everytime you share your opinions there.
Aw, it isn't that bad. No tolerance for "non-traditional" stuff, but they really can't define that (but they know it when they see it). You have to admit, as good as many on here are at fabrication and such, some of the guys over there are simply masters. Some of the masters can be mighty cranky, tho. Anybody that hates Boyd Coddington and billet can't be all bad...
there's 30k members over there and a lot of experience and information if you can weed thru the egos. I lurk there a lot and search and, as an artist, frequent the friday art show (loading there in a separate tab as I type). I seldom post though. My experience with the auto community, the traditional rodders are typically the "billy-bad-a..." guys. The F-100 guys and the Falcon guys were always a lot more normal, real, genuine, honest, nice.... Just my perspective.

The hamb is badly in need of a "cuss" filter. -- Chuck
Indeed, seems to be a lot of anger along with the bad manners. I suppose the site bosses are making a good fortune on ad space so the status quo works for them.

No ads at all, member and "alliance" supported, also auctions of parts and memorabilia.
Now if I could only find one. The guys at PepBoys are still in High School, I tried to get parts for my Triumph there over the summer, and they asked is that a KIA?
NAPA is hit and miss depending on who is behind the counter.
AutoZone English seems to be a second language.
So FLAPS are hard to find, at least in my neck of the woods.
I've had dealings with some HAMBers and one-on-one they're just as good as the guys here at FTE. I think a lot of the language over there is just posing to impress the others. I often describe the difference as more like being back in Jr. High.
As ross said, there are some true artists and craftsmen/women on the HAMB. I like most of the folks there, same as here.
