I have an 88 E-150 4.9L with a 5 speed stick. I have an after market EGR valve that is bad and would like to replace it with an OEM Ford part. I was told that since the van is so old they can't get the proper calibration code for an EGR Valve from the Vin #. Any suggestions? Here is the vin # 1FTEE14YXJHB46003. If someone has a part number or can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!
Check with an emissions tech to see if the metering device can be changed out. If it is running rough especially accelerating and at other times going one or two sizes smaller may help. Most of these after market parts come kinda "one size fits all" without application specific metering.
