Tire Pressure Sensor Light

Haven't been on here in quite awhile. But just wanted to let you guys know if you didn't already. I just purchased a 2008 F-150 and I had some 2007 sensors from my old tires and put them inside my 22's. According to my manual the 2008 now comes with a sensor resetting tool. None of the dealers here ever heard of it but they read it in the manual and had to give me one. I reset the sensors and have not had one problem with the sensor warning light coming on again. It also said in the manual if you did not receieve one to go to you dealer and they will provide one to you.

Can you post a pick of the sensor tool? Or a part number. The tire shop that did mine has a nice, expensive, aftermarket tool to retrain sensors. Good for Ford to pony up and provide one of these. Typical of the dealer not knowing anything about it.

I will take a pic this morning and put it up. It is also located on page 232 of the new manual.

Here is the pic of the tool given by Ford. There is also a pic in the manual. Just follow instructions in the manual to enter the system and place the remote on the sidewall of the tire and press the button. Takes all of about 45 seconds to do the whole process.

The sensors are out of my 07. So I know that works. Don't know how the computer is set up though?

This doesn't look like it would be too expensive to buy. Do you happened to have the part number. I would like to see if it would work on my 2007.

Question

ungotz, how did you go about re-installing the TPMS on your new rims? Did you have to buy new bands?

Very simple,

I took 5 minute epoxy and glued them in exactly 180 degrees from the valve stem like the manual says, and then used the thick police type tie wraps to double secure it. obviously you put a couple of them together so it is long enough. Never had one move and we have done a bunch of them.
We have had them move on Mustangs from the guys always burning out. Hope this helps

Here's another option for attaching the sensors to your rims. http://www.americanmuscle.com/universal-tpms-bands.html

Wonder what size they come in? I wanted to get some 24's.

Still, tie wraps are much cheaper.

I had a 2004 F-150 and I don't remember having sensors in my tires. But if you do I would use the ones you have since they match that computer. I don't know if the tool would work, but if I was to guess since I used my 2008 tool with the 2007 sensors, my guess would be that it would work.

04-06 don't have sensors. Fed Mandate requires TMPS on all 2007+ vehicles any brand

I too would just re-use your stock sensors. They can be somewhat pricey, and you don't need to recalibrate them. Just remount and go
