trouble codes need help hard starting

I Have a p0603 codes were cleared after batteries were disconected and got the code agian anything to worry about.

i also have the p0380 glow plug code i tested the volts on the relay and on the battery side i have 12 when the key is on and the glow plug side i have 9.6 this is on both intake heater and glow plug relay so i went and got a new napa gpr109 relay and that is the same thing. is the voltage supost to drop or was i as lucky as i have ever been and got a bad new relay.

is there a way to check the glow plugs without takeing off the covers and if i can do it trew the wireing harnes on the gasket what wires do i test thanks.

Get an ohm meter (get a digital readout), you can check your glow plugs/injectors by unconnecting the 9 pin connectors at both of the valve covers (near top edge) and use the following info: (You do not need to remove the valve cover)(use care checking these pins, they can be damaged)

GGIICIIGG
G = Glow Plug
I = Injector +
C = Injector -
Ohms between the G and block Ground should be 0.1 - 2.0 ohms.
Ohms between the I and C one at a time if one or more is > 5 ohms, it will point to the which gasket connector is open and not making connection.. or UVC harness being shorted.
If you are only getting 9.6 volts (which is alittle low, I have checked mine and get 11.2 volts during glow plug on.. ), I would check your batteries for condition using a load meter or a hydrometer, checking each cell. I would say however, it looks like your glow plugs are working if it is drawing your battery voltage down to 9.6.
0603 fault code is common if you disconnect your batteries..

Aside from the voltmeter testing you've been doing, can you describe how the truck is starting? What is it like when it's hard to start? Smoke, crank time, several tries, etc.

The truck has new batteries they are good the batteries are reading 13.2 and the bat side is 13.2 when key on 9.6. if i plug it in stars right up no problems. there is alot of white smoke untile it warms up. even with it pluged in. If i try to start it not pluged in it will crank alittle and fire like on 4 cyclinders jsut enough to make the tack move. but nothing after that. i just switched motors this one i put in had 75000 on it the one i had in that started great even with a hole in cyclinder number 8 that made me change the motors. I have new glow plugs that i put in the other motor notrealizen the relay was bad then replace relay. ill have to check the valve cover gasket conectors i used one of my old ones and one that came with motor. it runs great when i get it warmed up. i have 4in exhous itp tanks mod crossover line and regulated return also dptuner chip would the fuel system stuff or tuner make a differnce at all. the fuel is set a 65 pounds on the regulated return thanks
