Dose anyone have a list or thrown together there own intake mod kit? I was hoping to knock it out saturday at work but ITP diesel is closed till after the new year. I cannot stand the idle knock and cackle noise anymore if anyone has done this please post what you needed to do the job correctly thanks Steven
Out of curiousity do you need or have to removed the wire mesh screens from inside the pick up assemble? also anyone know where i might be able to find the compression fittings and stainless steel lines?
I'm pretty sure I've read about it being done both ways (assuming you mean the screen in the pickup foot). I left mine in simply because it's pretty course, and anything much bigger than it will likely plug the line anyway. Better to have a three inch screen with a 1/2" piece of junk trapped in it than the intake tube. Plus if you have that kind of junk in the tank, it needs to be dropped & cleaned anyway. Mine was absolutely spotless inside. There wasn't anything in the bottom of the tank, and there might have been one spec of something in one of the squares of the mesh. Not bad for a 5-6 year old truck. BTW, I used a $4.00 see-through gas filter from Wally-World for the pre-pump side. I can see when it needs replaced, and it seems to hold up well. I'm not the only one running one like that -- no problems with flow either. I have pics of it in a thread someplace -- if you're interested, I can find them for you.
