i have a 66 f 100 with a 352 v8, my neighbor has an old ford pu that has been
sitting for a while, it has a nice 289 high perfomance engine in it. will this fit in my 66? and what tranny will fit this if i buy it from him?
We need to know what year the truck is that you will be pulling the Engine out of ? If the right year of truck.... you can use the Engine Perchs (metal stands) from that same truck you pull the engine from. Hope that helps some.
The 289 is a 302 prerunner, using perches for a 302 from 68-79 will make that work. The tranny bells are different, but if both have manual trannys the swap could be possible.
The 289 doesn't make the same power as the 352, so be prepared for less umpth if you make the swap.
I agree with John; plus what's wrong with your 352? I wish I would've found a 352 prior to spending the amount of money on my 302 in my 65 model. But everyone and everything has it rhime or reason. I'm runnig a 76 302 with a 73 C-6 trans; also have a C-4 that I plan of putting behind my 302; once funds avaiable to do so.
the 289 has alot of high performance parts on it, dont know wether or not the guy will sell it. it is in a truck that his dad built, and he passed away, the truck has been sitting up for some time. plus it has sentimental value to his son. jeff
Jeff; I understand , and my 302 is pushing 10.5:1 compression, mild cam, 4Bc, 2400 stall & recent Hi-Po head work. Each any everyone to his or her performance; good luck on getting the engine; you never know.
