F150 Diesel?

I was just wondering if anyone out there knows if it is practical to change a F150 with a 300 I6 to a diesel? If not, is there someplace I can find out? I am not thinking of yanking my 300 in favor of a diesel, but I am curious if it would work. I have a '93 4x4 with a five speed on 3.08 rears that pulls like a tank after a few "adjustments" that I made. I was thinking a long while down the road when my 300 is in need of resurecting, if a diesel would drop in without too much trouble. I know that the drive train and other things would need beefed up to take the torque and hp from the diesel. Thanks for any help.

F150 Diesel?

From reading other posts concerning same idea, while its a good thought the expense knocks it out. Besides engine, changeover requires beefier front suspension, diesel fuel tank, fuel pumps and filters, plus all the different electrical components. Probably cheaper to buy a truck originally equipped with a diesel.

F150 Diesel?

Over the years, I've lloked long and hard at that very question.
I'd love to drop in an inline-six small displacement, TA diesel. The Nissan TD42A would be perfect, same torque (different curve) and same ballpark HP.
I'd do it, too, except for the emissions *****...it seems that the UD 1300/1400 (the engine and transmission donor) is a class IV truck, and They won't pass your under-8500-lb. vehicle with an over-8500-lb. engine.
That in mind, the only diesels out there certified for a 1/2-ton pickup are the GM 6.2/6.5 units. Um, no thank you!

In the mid-'70's, I remember seeing a few experimental diesels Ford built from the 300-six,
but they never went anywhere with that; same for the experimental V-8 built off the 385 block.

F150 Diesel?

I've seen Forklifts with deisel 300's, beeen thinking about converting one ever since, all of them had over 10000 hours and hadn't been re-built, that kinda reliability has me curious, and emissions isn't a problem to me, my F100 is emissions exempt where there is testing, and we don't have it :-)

F150 Diesel?

Well, the ones I saw are gone now, the company folded about 3 years ago, but, apparently, Cleveland Manufacturing in Houston has a few of them, each with at least 10000 hours on them, I'll post the number if I can find it
