I have an 84 F 150 with 300-6. Book says there is supposed to be an oxygen sensor. Not on this one (bad engine replacement). Can someone tell me where it should be placed and what color the wire is that connects (1 wire?). Thank you.
Is your engine EFI? If so than the oxygen sensor is located on the exhaust right before the catalytic converter. It should be a heated oxygen sensor, meaning it reads exhaust gases for excessive oxygen. If it gets a high oxygen reading it tells the computer and the computer increase the amount of fuel being injected into the engine. Any questions?
All O2 Sensors read the amount of O2 in the exhaust . O2 sensors generate their own signal but only when the exhaust temps reach operating temps . Heated O2 Sensors are usually 4 wire , two of the wires are supplying voltage to warm the O2 sensor so that it operates sooner ( Before exhaust gases are fully warmed ) This causes the heated O2 Sensors to go to their closed loop operation and supply the EEC with more effective info before the engine has fully warmed . The other 2 wires on the O2 Sensor , at least for Fords , are the Reference Voltage and Signal Return wires .

it is a single black wire should be able to see it from top of motor i have same set up and it is half way down the manifold in between the curves
hope that helps
