Hey To ALL
Found the site by searching (diesel fuel additives) DFA's to see what others are doing. I've used Power Service's "Diesel Kleen" AND FPPF's "Fuel Power" additives with every fill-up since the truck was new and so far....(knock on wood)....no injector issues and fuel mileage on average is 17.4 mpg w/o towing (city/open road). Fuel mileage was MUCH better until I took the truck in for the 60,000 mile service...mileage went WAY down from an average of 20.8 to where it is now (Ford said it was necessary as fuel mixtures were TOO lean causing injector isssues). Only seen a blip of a water-in-fuel lamp illuminate once since I've owned the truck and when I stopped and restarted...it didn't show back up.
The FPPF Chemical Company product claims to provide lubricity, water dispersant, and injector cleaners. One 8-ounce bottle treats 240 gallons. Several of you had mentioned that boosting the cetane also is important (which I also agree for more complete combustion and EGR anti-fouling) so I've been using Power Service's "Diesel Kleen+Cetane boost" in addition to the FPPF product.
Enough of my rambling...great site with some great Tech-Tips... and now for a question...
Does anyone have any experience with periodic "topping" off their batteries? if so, which battery do you consider "primary" or do you connect to an alternate battery each time when topping-off?
Thanks and glad to join!
There`s tons of info on this site, look thru the list and lurk away.
Be sure to post your info in the local FL chapter soon to meet some of the nice folks in there.
