More likely to be the electric shift motor if nothing happens rather than the hubs, if the transfer case doesn't shift into 4wheel than the hubs won't do anything.

But first lets try to narrow down what does happen, does the 4x4 light come on? Does it flash? Tell us exactly what it does do or doesn't do. Please be very specific.

Oh and include in that anything you hear when you push the button.

Ok, first test the control module.
It may be behind the passenger side kick panel or behind the instrument panel on the right hand side, behind the wiring harnesses.

If you can't find it post back.

Control Module Self-Test

1. Remove the five-wire connector and the eight-wire connector from the bottom of the electronic control module.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Activate the self-test switch located on the module and note the result:
* A flashing indicator lamp (approximately one flash per second) indicates that the control module is functioning properly.
* A steady indicator lamp indicates that the control module is inoperative and must be replaced.
