No tail lights

Ok so I've done some searching but got nothin on my subject. Taillights don't work, stop lights do, signals do, just tail lights are out. The dash lights are fine.

So far I've checked the bulbs, fuses (dash and under hood), headlight switch and have looked under the truck but it's a pain trying to see anything. I have power out of the switch on the dash, but no power at the light socket. Theres no power at the T (where it splits and goes to both sides) at the back of the truck either. Where are the grounds located at the rear of the truck? Thinking its a ground, but can't find them anywhere.

Any help or suggestions?

FOrgot, the truck is a 96 f250 powerstroke.

And on a side note, i just went and hooked a jumper wire up to the one light, to try and ground it, that didn't work either. So now I'm thinking maybe not a ground issue?

i would say it sounds like a fuse but you said you checked them so i don't know. From what you've described, it sounds like the fault is somewhere between the switch and the T. Can you follow this wire and check continuity? could be a short or even a broken wire. good luck and keep us posted.

This is a pain. Theres 2 tight spots I can get into the wire loom, but I'm not sure what wires are what. My book's wiring diagrams are a pain to read too. I wish it was a fuse, I'm pretty well stumped and getting sick of working on it. Going to go try and see where I have power again, if I dont get it soon I'm letting it go until tomorrow.

both are done. Has new bulbs in it, replaced the number 4 under dash, checked and replaced all under the dash, checked the relay and swapped it out, all done.

The one light socket out back has alittle corrosion in it, I cleaned it the best I could. I have the dash all ripped apart again, its got power out of the tan with white stripe wire and the brown wire. I cant get to the wires prior to the T connection in the back. I wanted to check right before it to see if there was power. If so I would guess its the fubar'd trailer wiring.

Well I'm done for today. I might end up taking it to a friends shop and mess with it tomorrow. I'm getting disqusted with this truck, its like every week a couple new things go wrong with it.

Ok new thing. I have power up to the little grey plug back near the bumper. Theres a plug with 8 pins in it, 4 wires come out, 2 green with stripes and 2 brown. Power in the plug, no power out. I unplugged it and cleaned it the best I could but nothing.

Any suggestions?

It's good up to that plug in the back. is there a ground somewhere back there? The wiring is all hacked up from the previous owner installing the trailer plug. I'm thinking about getting a new plug and rewiring it all but at this point just need to get it functional.
