1997 vs 2000

Thinking about upgrading to a newer truck. I now have a 1997 HD f250 SC LB 4x4 w/ the 460 with 161k. I found a 2000 SD SC LB 4x4 with the 5.4 with 116k. Both automatics. I don't pull much or haul a heavy load very often. I am hoping to improve my fuel economy with the 5.4. I've been reading about the earlier 5.4's and the spark plug problems. The 2000 is a one owner and a pretty good price. Tranny is original on the 2000. Seems like almost every used f250 I see has a rebuilt tranny. This one seems to shift alright, although it rolls backwards easily when sitting on a hill. My '97 doesn't do that. So should I just stick with my current truck or move to the newer one? Any thoughts?

Newer is always nicer! I think you will be happy with the 5.4. Don't worry about the trans. If it's been taken care of, it will last along time. I have 250k on my original trans, and I tow 20k very often.
