Frame powdercoat rough cost

Im thinking of pulling my 69's engine and trans, and pulling the body off. Im going to do a terra comp fiberglass body in the spring/summer I thought id get a good start on the frame now, Id like to clean it up and have it powdercoated black any one know roughly what powdercoat and a possible sand blast would cost? Im trying to compare if I should sand it down and just paint it myself with rustoleum ( did this to my front and rear axles and it turned out pretty nice, or powdercoat

Oh and anyone whos pulled a body off, whats the weight of the steel tub? can 4 guys carry it? I have a 4'' chainlink fence to lift it over to get it into my backyard hahaha

First you need to find a powdercoating place in your area that will do the project. Most are in business to deal with fabricators that make things like racks for warehouses and metal objects in buildings and may not be interested in your project.

Most of these places are used to dealing with virgin metals and will not want a greasy dirty truck frame to clean and dirty their shops. So plan on getting all the greasy grime off with laquer thinner and a pressure washer yourself!

See what they say and will charge!

Take the body off the frame where you want to keep it. Don't throw it away. I know from Jeepers that most fiberglass bodies are only easy to install so lony as you have the original body close by to compare to!

You need four sawhorses that are set taller than the frame and support the body across them with lumber. Undo the mounts and use wood to pry it from the frame and then push lumber between the frame and body to support it. (You should alreayd have pulled motor and trans) Roll the chasis to where you want to work on it once the body is off. That body weighs about 1000 lbs without glass and a top fenders doors and hood.
