Hey guys Merry Xmas,
Anyways Santa (my wife) bought me a power brake booster from Advanced Auto for my 66 Ford F100. After eating Xmas dinner i went to the garage to make sure it visually looked correct. My truck is now a manual brake system with only two bolts holding on my master cylinder. The power brake booster has 4 bolts in a square pattern around the piston hole. Is this a correct booster set up for this truck. And will my manual master cylinder work with this booster?
The factory setup had 2 brackets that bolted to the firewall using 4 bolts as I recall...the booster to brackets is a 4 bolt setup. The master is the same 2 bolt setup as w/o the booster. Im assuming this is an OE type booster period correct for the single cylinder setup mind you...you might wanna post a couple of pics as Im sure others will cime in and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words...
EDMist if you look at the link I posted you'll see one type of mounting brackets used to hold the booster to the firewall. These brackets are mounted on the same bolts that hold the brake pedal arm housing under the dash. If you open up my gallery you should be able to see the power brake booster I put on my neighbors 66. The only thing needed to put the vacuum booster on was remove the two bolts below the non-power master cylinder and the ones holding the master on. If you need there are several vendors or even local auto yards you can get the brackets from.
will this brakebooster mastercylinder combo fit my 65 f-100 that I am doing with a disc brake upgrade. Without making a spacer against the firewall for the rod, so the pedal is rite and will it bolt up without any modification.
Others on here have done this and can probably answer this question better than me. I run mine disc/drum with manual brakes. Stops great. My cam doesn't make much vacuum anyway. I'm pretty sure that the booster is not a direct bolt-up. Probably takes a little fabbing. Do a search on this forum and you'll probably find your answer. Also, I have a booster and bracket off of a '68 F100. May be closer to your '65 and require less modification. Again others on here can tell you for sure.
