Explorer audio install...need some ideas...
Advantages: more space, four full doors, big back storage area
Disadvantages: no convenient space behind seats for sub/amp
I've already swapped the stock "Ford Premium" speakers out of the Explorer and into the Ranger, and taken the Ranger speakers and put them into the Explorer. So that's done, sound is much improved.
I am leaving the stock Explorer head unit. From the outside and inside, I'm trying to keep it looking at stock as possible. I do NOT want to put the sub/amp in the cargo area...that seems like a theft magnet to me.
So I'm left with getting the sub and amp into the truck. The amp is a Alpine MRP-F550 and the sub's a 10" MTX T-5500. I've got no problem I don't believe building a box to fit under the rear seats for the sub...but the amp's truly giving me hell. It's dimensionally large...just a bit too large to fit smoothly under the rear seats.
So I'm quite open to suggestions? Anyone got some good ones for anything relating to the entire audio/electrical system? I'd be much appreciative.
Thanks.
Merry Christmas.
