Power chip question?!?!
I see a lot of ads for power chips, power commanders, etc and none of them really address the manual tranny versus automatic. My truck is a (6.0 diesel, of course) Superduty 4X4 supercab, longbed and has the 6 speed manual with 3.73 gears in the diffs. I am planning on towing a trailer and so am thinking about increasing the power and/or torque with one of those power adding devices. I'm guessing that the transmission temp won't be such an issue as it is with an automatic, so I really don't plan on monitoring that. Maybe EGT would be of interest, though, huh? I would like to know from the group if anyone has any experience/recommendations/advice as to a brand and the use of one of those things, ESPECIALLY with a manual transmision. Any reliability/durability issues are of interest and do they actually help or is it all advertising fluff? You can send me a reply at dondlhmn@aol.com if you want.
