Just bought a 61 F100. Guy who sold it said he thought it was a 300. VIN says it came stock with a 223. Anyone know how I can identify it easily?

The 223 and 262 inlines have the intake and exhaust manifolds on the drivers side. The 240 and 300 are on the passenger side.
