I have a 2001 f-350 , 7.3L, with 75000 miles and a manual transmission. I just got a bully dog 6 position 4 bank chip for christmas when i pulled the computer it had a gold colored chip that says BD power! I was wondering if it would hurt to pull the old one out and install the new one and if anyone knows which one is better
You should remove the the computer from the truck in order to make sure that the contacts are clean before installing the new (Bully dog)tuner. Different tuners will utilize different contacts with-in the computer. So it's not safe to assume that you can pull one and just install the other in it's place. I've never used the Bully dog product myself, but you should find better versatlity with the Bully dog tuner. Better fuel economy, power, tranny shifts, etc. Well, as long as you can control the urge to stay out of the pedal with the Bully dog tuner turned up. HAH HAH HAH!!
OH!! before I forget, Make sure that your battery cables are removed, and keep your keys in your pocket at all times during removal and install of the chips/Tuner. If you got any insrtuctions with the BullyDog Tuner, Follow them to the letter. You can damage your PCM very easily, so be carefull.. I hope this helps yah out. Country

You do not have t remove the PCM t change chips....unless you want to verify the cleanliness of the contacts. Just make absolutely sure the key is not in the ignition when you swap them out. Put the keys in your pocket and it is a simple matter of removing one chip and installing the next.
It will not hurt anythng to swap them back and forth...and honestly, you are the only one in the position to decide which one is better.
Thanks alot, I just switched them and the bully dog chip made a big difference. One more question, now when I hit around 15lbs of boost the turbo seams to spool up very quick and it starts to make a noise any ideas?
sounds like a turbo rebuild is comming up..take the air inlet tube off and look into the turbo to see if the wheel is dusted chipped or nicked..when cold... grab the nut and try to move the wheel up and down side to side..no more the .001 to .002 of play is ok..but no more then that.. try to push the nut in and out..there should be no play at all there..if there is any pay then the turbo needs to be rebuilt...
Possibly, but I think it's more likely that he's just hearing the big dog spool for the first time. Especially if chip #2 fuels more agressively than the old one.
