I replaced the fram filter just to see, replaced with napa 1515 pressure jumped from none to high normal all clatter gone. Yipee!!.Lesson Learned Fram is JUNK!!!
There are only 2 real oil filters, in my opinion. Wix and Baldwin. Wix manufactures filters for many others, including NAPA and Motorcraft. Baldwin filters are not that common, other than thru fleet supply sources.
FRAM oil filters are good for only 1 thing. Screwing in place while painting the engine.

Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator, not Wix. Purolator and Motorcraft seem to be pretty good filters, but I always run Wix and it's identical twin, NAPA Gold.
At work we only use luberfiner and napa and many of our vehicles are over 300,00 miles with out an engine failure.Granted these are all P.S deisels but on those filtration is crucial.I had heard of Fram probs but never saw till now.

If purolator has the contract now, it's news to me. Back in 1990, I picked up a load of filters at Dana/Wix, and delivered them to Fords Dearborn plant. There were 6 of us total that day, 2 of us went to the Dearborn assembly plant, while the other 4 were routed to Ford's Brownville or Brownstown (I think that was the name of it) distribution center. Both were in the Detriot metro area..... Wix filters, Motorcraft boxes.
I use Baldwin filters, unless I am out of stock, at which point it's a Wix. I got very familar with Baldwin filters on those semi's, and found a source locally. The downside is, I have to buy a case to see any savings over the Wix.
Purolator does not make the filters put on the cars during assembly, but does make all the motorcraft that are sold off the shelf. It very well may be Wix that makes the factory filter.
I don't think I have ever seen a Baldwin, but was under the impression they are about as good as Wix. Then there is Donaldson. I have tried Fleetguard and like them, but they don't have the Ford-type threaded end bypass valve, so I won't use them.
