these stories are great guys, keep em coming! i know now that my 1/2 ton can handle a lot more weight than i thought possible. i knew my 4.9L will pull anything but i didnt realize my springs, rear, and tires could handle it too.
48' fordster, you've convinced me to put f250 springs back there. you're truck looks awesome. i've never seen anyone with the same color truck that i have. (paint code CB - medium polameno). i like the stance of yours with the 250 springs and i want to see how much stone i can get in my 8' bed so im gonna get those beefier springs at the yard.
I love a raked look, but that gaa is huge in your truck with the F250 Springs. If you are going to put the F250 springs in, you should also put the F350 2wd front coils in, to bring the front up a bit. And a little taller tire to fill the wheel well out.
good idea. i think i'll do that too. i have 31" tires so im hoping they will be enough to fill the wheel well out a little more. from your sig, it sounds like you have an awesome truck. i have the b&m shift kit on the e4od too and i love it. how long have you been running it? i just installed mine about 1000 miles ago.
ill see if i can get those front springs while im at the yard looking for the rear springs.
tuffest load i EVER put my ol 92 F150 threw was back this last summer when i hooked my 20 ft car trailer to it loaded up a bronco II pulled all the way forward just so the front tires didnt fall off then pulled an allis chalmers D-12 tractor on the back and hauled it 30 miles. i was more then impressed but every time i hook that trailer to it i defenetly over work the truck that load with the trailer bronco and tractor was an estimated 10,000-11,000 pounds behind a half ton with a 302 and an aouto trans!! and who said fords arnt biult tough!!!
Ive had the shift kit for about a year now. I love it also. I was tired of the slow soft shifts. I want to put one into my moms grand marquis but I dont think shed like it. What springs did you go with? The heavy duty/off road or street/strip? As a F350 I dont think ive maxed out my towing or hauling yet. Have had some heavy loads, but none that were that special, oh wait 1 was. My job was having a Memorial Day party, and I put a BBQ, Couch, And Cooler into the back of my bed. What a Day.

This is exactly what i plan on doing this summer. I run 33's stock so a little more clearance is always good.

Are you sure it was a D12 dozer? I'm not saying your wrong, but a D9 is this....
I don't think my 1/2 ton could carry a tree like that, but close to it , I have upgraded my springs all the way around, my weakest point would be the axles and the tires, ( just got new 32x11.50's today! Woohooo!), your truck looks nice.

Mike
It could hold more but the tree wasnt big enough to fill the bed. Post a pic when you get the tires on.
some is not going to beleive this, and i do not condone this, but about a month ago, we filled up our dump trailer with the remains of a cracked septic tank and some of the dirt on top of some shingles that we had tore off for a job. but anyway, on the way to the landfill, the truck was a dog. i did not get above 35 mph's. i thought that something was wrong with my truck, anyways i finally got to the landfiil, weighed in unloaded, weighed out, 19,980 pounds..what the crap, no wonder it was a dog, i will not recoomend this and hopefully will i ever do again. btw, my truck is a 250 hd, with stacked springs and it was not even sagging, but that is a lot of weight.
Wow I would have put it in 2 low if you could have. I can leave my hubs unlocked and use 2low. Some people say it isnt good tho. I dont know what worse smoking trans or tcase. If you only got to 35 mph i think low can go that fast. I think i topped my 88 wrangler out at 35 in 5th in 4x4 low. Super slow and super torque.
Nice pics!! That's what im talkin about! your truck doesnt even look weighed down at all! my truck would be on the ground with that tree in the bed. im working on changing that. those pieces look like good ones to split by hand for oldtimes sake. awesome pics! happy new year everyone
