OK my local parts counter person at autozone could not find this part... I may need to try and go to Napa, but what application can I tell them so I can get the right part... as Part numbers are lost on them... least in my area.
I got mine from NAPA, just give them the part # 6637.. Get some covers for them if you want. Lasts longer, neat looking, and washable..Give PETE a shout about the covers !! I like mine...
If you have an Oreilly's, I got mine there for $38. I can't get them from FleetFilter for much less because I'm in TX and have to pay tax AND shipping. The difference ain't worth the hassle.
Nothing that I know of... I personally think they're iffie. Not to start 6637 bashing but something about the mesh being on the wrong side of the paper bothers me.
I think the mesh is designed to keep birds mice and rats out... Bye the way, I was drift diving last night and my truck fell flat on its face!!!! It's a brand new filter, but I packed my engine compartment with snow and clogged the filter. I limped back to the heated shop, backed it in, and parked it. This morning, the snow is still not melted!
I love the 6637 and will probably never change it, but I am going to have to get a pre-filter/cover.

Here's the problem with your theory, people have been using them with great success and no collapsing issues for a long time.

Well, there is ONE case of a claimed failure, but no pics, and there was no investigation done to find out if it was a case of a wet or defective filter. But I agree -- too many folks are running these without problems, and some run big turbos with big boost. If it were prone to failure, I would think one of them would have seen it by now. Plus, when I crushed mine, it didn't tear or come apart in any way. I had to drive on it for a short while until I picked up the other one, and it survived.
all i can say, im about 500RWH and running H2E turbo, and went through 2 6637 filters without them beeing damaged a bit. and my truck gets the use of all of its horses. AIS was very restrictive on my setup, and i was getting more smoke and slower spoolup.
so witht hat beeing said time and time again, there is no better filter cost effective for high HP aplications, and it has been proven on the dyno, and me shooting 20# of boost on 1/4 mile run with 40+ # of boost at the end of the run
Don't know about US Napa prices but when I went to the Napa store here in Halifax, they wanted $78 for the filter...and that was a discount from the normal price of $95!!
Was a pretty easy choice for me to go with Fleetfilter... got a 6637 a fuel filter and an oil filter shipped to Canada for $56. Now there's a bargain
