Has anyone had any sucess with these. lastnight taking off my intake i broke 3 bolts off in my heads and am looking for any and all advice i have access to another set of heads if need be. also the intake bolts, some one on this board said there just a normal bolt the guy at part source said there a special bolt.
So my truck is in a friends garage its christmas im really depressed and stressed out. so boys shed a little light PLEASE. lol
First off what engine do you have?
Usually the easy outs work well depending on the brand/style. Are the bolts broken off flush, in the head or is there some sticking out? What caused them to snap?

sorry its a 302 and broke off almost flush theres a tiny bit sticking out but nothing worth talking about. All the bolts in the intake were really worn out
i cant belive they were so small half the size of chevy intake bolts.
A friend of mine has a set of 302 heads im wondering if they will work, im not sure of the casting #s
Usually the 302 intake bolts aren`t a problem unless way over torqued, I`ve snapped bolts but never ever on a 302 intake.
When drilling for the ezy out do not get any filings into the engine.
Without knowing the specs it`s hard to say about changing the heads all though most do interchange.
which partsource did you go to. if the one on circle then talk to shelley or jim, if the one on 22nd only talk to jim, everyone else there is a ****ing retard, on 8th st talk to grant or the long haired biker looking guy (his name escapes me for right now) all these people know their stuff everyone else i wouldnt waste my wind on them. Ive had limited succes with the ez-out. I used it to remove striker plate bolts and the ez-out broke easily
The ezy outs are highly tempered and brittle so extreme care has to be taken not to over torque or put side twist, they will break and compound the problem....
The intake bolts maybe a grade 8 but other than that I don`t believe they are anything special.
It maybe possible to weld a nut on to the broken piece.
Without seeing the problem it`s hard to say the best way to remove the broken piece.

ya ill have to check and see if bolt supply is open tomorrow and go to crappy tire and get an ez out. and well go from there i guess
When drilling be certain to cover all the openings in the heads completely to protect from filings falling into the engine. If you need head bolts likely I could find some today. Other than that the best place to get bolts maybe an automotive machine shop if Bolt Supply doesn`t have the proper ones.

Actually i bought new head bolts, i need well atleast 3 intake bolts.
Ive never used an ez out how exactly do they work. do you use a drill or do you drill a hole in the bolt first?
Drill the proper size hole in the bolt and turn it very carefully BY HAND only!
Do not use too much pressure keeping it very straight, using even & careful pressure on the ezy out or guaranteed it will snap like a piece of glass.....
It sounds like you would be better off to get hire pro tech before you run into even much bigger problems.

ya maybe but this time of year everythings shut down. what a pain in the but
You also might look into reverse twist drill bits. I think Sears and other shops sell them.
The reverse twist drill has the advantage of ... as they drill they might work the bolt loose and turn it out for you.
Be sure to spray some penetrating spray into the bolt to help things out.
Whatever you do. DO NOT BREAK the drill bit or Easy out. Like the guys said, they are brittle and will snap. I would not try a china special easy out. Breaking a bit on the heads is too big a PITA to risk using cheap tools.
And as the guys said, HAND turn only, with the easy out.
