I used Hookers on an old 302-powered Granada I used to have... made it loose what little torque that bone-stock 302 had...

Got a lot better when I called Competition Cams and got an RV grind for it and swapped the glasspacks for a pair of Dyna-max's and put in a balance tube

The worst thing you could do is put a giant exhaust system on a stock 302, it'll loose low rpm power as JL described. The best combo is long tube headers and a single 2.5" exhaust, but if you gotta have duals keep it to 2.25" plumbing. Without cats or mufflers it's gonna be stupid loud too.. guarantee'd attention from the Boys in Blue.

The header do add to the pep factor. Dont open up exhaust to much I tried dual 3" and MPG and response failed me. But a single 3 or 2 small dual work great.

In my opinion, the louder the better... As long as it is clean sounding.. I hate a rusted out exhaust system! But thanks!!!

loud, you're gonna get.
but it's gonna be the most nasty, ratty-**** sounding loud you ever heard... like an old cir. 1975 Honda twin with just the downpipes in a polebarn with no insulation on the walls...

Well like i said, i just hate a rusted out sounding exhaust.. With new longtubes an 2.25 or 2.5 exhaust it will sound like its done right, it can pop an crack all it wants plus it will sound like its got authority(somewhat)..

ID throw a dual inlet and dual outlet flowmaster 40's like mine. I shake everything in the house when I leave. And it cleans up the sound. Gives that FLOWMASTER sound.
