Where do we find good values for our trucks? Blue Book and NADA are pretty random.
Mine's a 1977 F150 2wd. Recently rebuilt 400cid with C6. Long bed regular cab. Explorer options package. Blue and white. New carpet, but no door panels. Runs reliable, and fairly fast. 1/2 tread on tires. Non working A/C. Twin gas tanks, underbed tire (yes, custom). Minor rust on hood and a few small holes in each rear cab corner. New steering box, radiator, trailer hitch and ball.
That website is just NADA. If you look at the HTML source of the internal pricing pages, they come from http://www.nadaguides.com/. They are just loading up the NADA page in a frame. It even says NADA at the bottom. I agree that their prices seem a little high.
Heh, anything that is 73-79, 2WD, and in cherry condition, 2-3K tops no matter what kind of mods or shoe box full of receipts you have to show for it (unless its some sort of rare package, those get 6K tops.) There are rare instances, and sometimes you can get somebody to pay for what you put into something, but you wont get rich selling your truck.
I paid 4200.00 for my 79, when it was new. I would not, repete, would not sell it for that. However I don't get to many offers over that today. It's all in the eyes of the title holder.
I agree that they are a little high. I always assumed that these prices reflect a truck that is absolutely mint. As with all price guides, you have to take them with a grain of salt.
Did someone say salt block? Mine just got pressed back into daily driver status, so selling is a bit down the road... now... again. Also testing the MPG for the stock 2V carb vs. my 4V.
