I am working on replacing the front brakes on my truck and it still has the automatic hubs. I was just wandering what all it takes to change it over to the manual hubs?
thanks, guys I was doing some research on warns website and figured out that all I need is the actual hub kit. most of our trucks dont need the axle nut kit for the conversion since the nut kit is only for trucks that have a warn auto locking hub. and most of our truck have spicer/dana hubs. the way to tell is by counting the screws holding the cap on. the warn caps have 3 screws and the spicer caps have 5.
I got the warn manual hubs at NAPA and am done with one side of the truck now but the brake caliper bracket isnt cooperating on the other side so it will wait till tomorrow. the hubs are the easy part, changing the rotors is a PITA though.
Anyone have more info on this conversion? Can I pull a set of stock manual locking hubs from a similar truck and put them into my truck with auto locking hubs. Mine is 250 with the 3 bolt outside cap? Do I need to change the wheel bearing retainer nut, mine used a 2 3/4" thin wall socket to remove/install.
