I went to my local AutoZone this morning. They have Duralast wiper blades and refills, buy one get one free.Wow,what a difference;I can see now! Also,I can now see all the chips in my windshield from rocks and other flying debris that has hit my windshield!
Some companies sell a glaze to buff your windshield to polish out those chips, it makes a big difference. I think Eastwood sells it, not sure where else. Rain-X used to have some too.
I use the cheapest blade possible. The fancier blades I have used in the past had all that special coating on them and just seemed to smear IMO. Although it seems many here seem to like them, so i may try again.
These newer blades don't use a "special coating". Its the design of the frame that makes them work better. More even pressure across the windshield and the built-in wind spoiler helps as well. Mercedes, BMW, Audi and other German cars have come with them stock for several years now.
Make sure you clean your windshield before installing your new blades. I use Bonai(sp.) cleanser. You can find it a the grocery store by the Comet and Ajax. This is a product I've used for decades, it's a fine powder for cleaning surfaces you don't want to scratch.
i like the michelin ones....and i use a longer than stock wiper....gets a bit more windshield clean with no clearance problems....i can't remember if its one or two inches longer than stock....i'll check tommorow and let you know
