Have not missed the 6.4 a bit.
About six months ago I got fussed @ by a few people in this forum for complaining about the unreliability and the inferiority my work trucks that I did not own. MY boss traded in the 2 08 PSDs because FORD could'nt fix them and they said lemon law did not apply to commercial vehicle. Also note that 2 6.0 PSD were traded in for the 2 08's. Well more than 33K has been put on the 2 CHevy HD 6.6 without one single problem. I'm glad that there are people out there that have not had to experience the bad taste that the 6.4 and 6.0 PSD has put in my mouth. WE still have a 7.3PSD with 155K that runs like a top.

I HERE THE SAME FUSS, mabey you just needed to find a qualified dealer. I could give the names of a few people here who have traded there chevy's for fords because of similar issues. All i can say is the number of happy buyers far out weights the unhappy buyers
I'm sure that 7.3 you still have will out last the new duracraps when there in the junk yard.

Like I just posted in another thread, I highly doubt that anyone drives thier 08 harder than we drive our 08 ambulance, and we've had 0 problems.
Either you got a lemon, we got a diamond, or you got bad service.
In any case, the Duramax is awesome as well and I wouldn't doubt if the Chevys ended up just as reliable as the Ford could have/should have been.

Your ambulance has a cake walk compared to the what we require from these trucks. The trucks never leave the shop with less than 7000 lbs worth of trailer and most of the time we have another 5000 lbs worth of equipment and usually come back with 1500 to 3000 lbs worth of smashed up airplane on the trailer. These trucks work hard for a living.

I can't say I blame anyone if their vehicle has been in the shop frequently if their paycheck depends on it. On the otherhand, it may help others who may be experiencing the same issues (who can't trade trucks) if we knew what the problems were to avoid the same fate.

We had a turbo fire under the hood in one which they did fix but the other truck kept getting and over temp signal in the exhaust system and it would put the engine into an idle only mode. It would only do it with a trailer hooked up to it. As for what I am hoping to get from this post........ I guess I would was hoping someone would just start bashing on the Chevy because I am a Die hard Ford guy and my *** breaks out in hives from driving the truck. Even though it gets the job done.

First let me say I have to agree with your comments about A.V. The largest dealership in GA and accordingly the most inept. I bot my 2005 F-350 from them and A.V. went out of their way to make me hate them.
NOW to your original thread.
I will cut right to the chase. In GA we have few dealers that are selling "ultra low sulfur diesel fuel". You can buy "low sulfur fuel". ULSDF is 15 ppm sulfur maximum; whereas LSDF is 500 ppm maximum.
From what you described above it seems probable that your company was using the wrong fuel and as a result would create the problems experienced. I think something has to come out state wide or nationally that alerts all late model diesel owners to this potential fiasco.
The labels on the station fuel pumps are so similar. AV could have refused warranty and probably did as a result of improper fuel useage, even though you could not buy the correct fuel, and they never told you.
The dealer I bot my 2008 with 6.4 gave me a 2006 owner's manual at time of delivery. Watch what you put in your replacement vehicles because the same technologies to meet emission specs is used by all major engine manufacturers except for CAT which is excluded by an umbrella EPA ruling.
