Only two left!

Hard to believe there are any WWI Veterans still alive but we lost one recently. Only two known survivors left. Imagine being the last survivor?

Ray you beat me too it, I heard about this over night while on my run on hte radio and thought I would need to be posted but see you already did.
Thanks for finding the link too that was something I was going to search for.
Yeah amazing isn't it though that there is any survivors and you know I guess it's just not something you think about too much but even WWII vets are starting to seriously thin out and it's not going to be long before we will be able to count them on one hand too.

Dennis I have to wonder about the state funeral though, I just read the article posted by Ray and it mentions the last canadian survivor and he lives in Spokane WA USA.

The last one should be given a state funeral by ALL the nations that fought together.

The really scary/sad part is that chances are that it will be in 2008 sometime.

Dennis I do hope you know I was just funnin with you on that one, I can't say a bad thing about anyone of those guys, first for serving and then for putting up with this world for this long. Man just think of the stories and memories those guys have to tell if you could sit down with them as I am sure many have done. Just wish I could

Up until last year here in Long Beach, Ca. a Memorial Day ceremony was held held @ 6th & Lime at the home of Ski Demski. He had a huge flag at his home (They tried to get him to take it down, but that's another story). A gentleman who's name unfortunately escapes me would always lead the Pledge of Allegiance. He was 106 years old and a WW1 vet. He passed away 2 yrs. ago, Ski last year, and the ceremony died with them. Living history eventually goes away to the books. Sad stuff.
