Yes, 15W-40 is the preferred for temps above 32F. As long as he was running the right weight oil for the temps there should be no problems. Here is a TSB on the subject.
I try to remind folks that there is always two sides of every story and usually we only get one side of it. That sounds a bit fishy to me. I'd have to do some serious checking after seeing something like that!
That does seem weird. Maybe the dealer hates you. Usually they are descent about the oil. I would get all the facts first. I am assuming you are not getting the full story. Maybe a star pattern on the pistons while replacing head gaskets ???
The service adviser from ford called and talked to my boss. He explained to my boss that we were using the wrong oil in this engine and that was responsible for the failure.
They covered the head gasket failure but not the injectors.
I have no dealings with service at this dealer, but I get the feeling they may not be a great place.....

Take the manual in and show the service adviser the oil weights recommended by FMC. 15W-40 is recommended down to 30F (10F if towing).
After showing this to the service advisor have him put in writing that they are voiding the warranty and why. Then contact FMC directly, telephone number is in your warranty manual and file a formal complaint against the dealer. I am sure that FMC will make this right, as FMC is the one who has the power to void the warranty Not the dealer.
Directly from the first page of your warranty manual.

i work for ford and that is total bull crap. you need to get customer service involved. raise some hell on this dealership. take it all the way to the top if you have to. that should be covered under warranty
you sure he doesnt have a chip or anything on the truck? if not then tell him to get on the phone! that is a buncha bull! or get another dealer. altho! i have heard if there are more than 3 or 4 injectors out at once ford will throw the red flags! so yeh.
That would be nice but then that would involve FTE in possible legal issues for hosting such information.
What about if someone set up a web site apart from FTE to simply have a list of more friendly dealers across the USA? THen FTE could just link us to that page of dealers......................There has to be a way to notify all of us Ford owners to all of the jackass dealers in the USA and all of the more friendly sensible one's.
