automatic to manual swap help!
I am on my third E40D rebuilt transmission. I would like to change this thing out for a manual tranny. I am having trouble locating parts. Toyo Kogyo (Mazda) or ZF... I am thinking I want the ZF unless someone knows why I want the Mazda trans instead.
I aslo need a pedal assembly and the plumbing, and a shifter.
any help or leads for the parts would be appriciated.

Here's all the parts needed (this is for a 4x4):
The ZF has a granny gear in 1st, so you start out normally in 2nd. The 302 might not like this, depending on what rear-end you have. My 300 pulls it just fine, even with a 3.08 rear.

I agree that the ZF would be the one to get, but I am on a short budget and the ZF trans are not available to me for less than $1200 (none local $950 or more + shipping). I found a mazda trans yesterday for 200 bucks. I have purchased it, this will give me time to find a ZF and work out all of the auto to manual bugs. If I dont break this thing before I find a ZF I can sell it, as event the Mazda trannys are hard to find here. I spent all afternoon yesterday crawling arond the j-yards in the snow trying to find any thing. At the last yard I found the one above from a truck that had just be brought in the day before. The guys at the yard tell me they all go about that fast.
