Thanks Benny2002. No lift, but 4x4.
DSLFVR, I tried my local NAPA and they could only find the bushings for the bar, not the end links. I called all the parts stores in my area and nobody had the end link bushings. I looked at the parts store websites and the only one who had anything listed was O'Rielly's and it was the energy suspension bushings. I called the store and they didn't seem to want to mess with looking it up and ordering them. I think I'll try to find one of the supporting vendors here on FTE and see what my options are, unless someone has other avenues for me to pursue. I am open to suggestions and do appreciate the information that I get from everyone here.
zx250, Thanks for your input on energy suspension!
Mmmm, That's funny, 'cause that's where I bought mine. (NAPA) I'll look up the numbers later today after work.
strokin_it 7.3, Let me know what you decide and how much, I might very well be in the market still.
jhand 124, They specifically said two seperate prices, the one for the passenger side was almost a dollar higher if memory serves me correct.
The passenger side has a little heat shield on the top bolt, to help protect it from the exhaust which runs right next to it.
Here are the prices from http://www.directfordparts.com which is where I got mine. $43.54 for passenger side and $43.23 for the drivers.
I changed my link ends a few weeks ago. I bought them from the dealer, 67.00 ea. Napa tried to give me the smaller set. Good thing I matched them to my truck in the parking lot. The smaller set were way cheaper, and for a smaller truck.
I replaced mine at about 65000 miles. I bought some from amazon.com they are poly from energy suspension. I first tryed the burning and sawing but lost patience. I then moved to a 60 ton press with some different sizes of cut tube stock. They popped right out with four or five pumps. My end links were really not bad it was my bushings that held the sway bar to the axle, thats where my clunking every bump i would hit was coming from. I just did all of it so i wouldn't have to mess with it for a while. The kit i got was like 40 bucks. You just have to know the circumfrance of the bar.
Most of the time it is the link ends what make the bump sound. To be sure the links are the problem, take them off and drive the truck over bumps.
This is probably a basic question, but will doing this harm the truck or any other components in any way?
I'm thinking sway bar links are my problem, so if I could isolate it by driving for a day without them, that would tell me for sure.

Find a stetch of road that you KNOW makes the noise, hopefully not the freeway, then take of just the links and ziptie the big bar to the frame rails and go over that same stretch of road. Youll know instantly if theyre the problem. You can drive without the sway bars but i would stay off the freeway and dont do any slalom coarses

I drove mine around for 3 weeks without swaybar or links while waiting on poly bushing to come in. Don't know if I would go that long with swaybar tie wrapped. Also don't think I would do much towing without the swaybar. Also, be sure and check you link bolts. I didn't get rid of all of my clunking until I replaced all 4 bolts. The wear was minimal, it was enough to make a clunking noise. I went with a slightly larger bolt size. It took that to fit snug in bushing. Best it has sounded in years. I would also recommend replacing the swaybar bushings(on axle) as well. Mine didn't look worn until I compared them new ones.
Thanks for all the replies. I know I need to change these, but what to do? Energy suspension? Well, unless I get a real good deal on OEM, I might give the Energy a try. Seems that several people have had really good things to say about them. Maybe they will last longer?
So far I'm liking my poly bushings. Other than the removal of the OEM rubber, the rest was easy. Like I said, I recommend checking all the bolts for any wear.
Looking at all of the available kits from energy suspension, they all specify a certain diameter. What am I suppose to measure the diameter of? This is sort of a dumb question, but I am lost!
Does anyone have a part # on the energy susp bushings? I know mine are shot and this chattering is really getting on my nerves, haha. Im getting my front brakes replaced in about a week and want them to throw in the bushings while there in there.
I have found plenty of places online to get them but it seems like without the part # i cant find them.
Doug,
Have you looked at the energy suspension bushings? When I looked the site wanted the vehicle info and then it produced the kit part #, if I remember right. http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...E5186&cat=3857
Try this and see if it looks like the right part # for you.
