Squirrels R Us

I have expressed this concern before so this is nothing new for me. I spent several hours this past summer repairing my storage building in the back yard where the squirrels had chewed holes and taken over the building. I really kinda thought my problem was solved. Low and behold, this squrrel has chewed through the metal on my guttering and has taken up residence again.
I tried shooting them with a pellet gun and did not have a lot of luck. Although, I did hit a couple of them, apparently that was not enough to discourage them from destroying my building and the contents of the building. I have tried putting toy snakes in the back yard and just about everything else imaginable. I live in a residential area, so using firearms is not really a possiblity. I am thinking of trying traps next. Maybe a rat trap might do the trick.
Last winter while I was helping the wife through chemo threapy, the squirrels destroyed all of the pillows and coverings that she had stored for the winter. It was like a war zone in there in the spring. Things were knocked off of the shelves and cotton was all over the building. I assume they made nests with the cotton that they took from the cusions and pillows.
To say the least.....I HATE SQUIRRELS.....! Any help with this dilemma would be appreciated.....Does anyone know of a SQUIRREL BUSTER?

rat traps could work..the big ones. I think I have heard someone use fly traps before as well, meant for rats though.

I have the same problem. They chewed through the side of my house and I can hear them all the damn time in that part of the wall. Then I boarded up the hole and it wasn't a month before they found another way to get in!
I've been told to put moth ***** in where they're bedding and they'll leave. I think it's a good idea. Now I just have to find out where they're getting in at.

Predator scent products can be purchased from a farm supply store. We had a skunk take up residence under the house. I bought some fox urine granuals and spread them around. Seems to have discouraged them. Check the Gemplers web site, you can get them there.

Too bad you couldn't use a .22. That's how I got rid of our squirrel problem (OK, I also used my Shotgun and AK47 ).

Over the course of 2-3 months this past spring/summer, I shot every squirrel I saw and left them lying in the yard (the dogs carried them off anyways). It's been 5 months or more, and I haven't seen a single one.

I would suggest finding a quality, high-powered air rifle and fitting it with a decent scope.

Of course not. It just means I don't have to pick up the pieces since they are turned into gravy

Stay away from the poison, cause it can't discriminate between a squirrel and the other critters.

Get a nice sized rat trap, since squirrels are really just rats with fluffy tails. Trap em, and drown them in a wheelbarrow. We trap them and shoot them and feed the vultures where I live.

An AK is mild compared to the 45-70 i use. Around here the squirrels look like this.
