flickering alternator light

My alternator light is flickering, but it is charging fine and the alt meter is showing normal voltage. I can see the meter jump when I have a load on it at idle, so I know its working.

anyone know what would be causing this?

it is a 93 F150 w/5.0 and 4X4

Thanks.

No, there is a dummy light and an alternator guage too. The red dummy light that says "ALT" is constantly flickering.

start it let someone move the wires... a bit see if the light flashes... if it does you have loose conections

Check the small wire running to back of alt. The conections fail. I have extras in work bench it happens so much to different truck

My 93 has a BATT light, left hand side of the panel next to the turn signal.

Checked the connection at the solenoid and it was fine. Here's and update...the light goes off when I rev the engine higher. It is no longer flickering when idleing, it is always on, then when the rpm goes over 1800 or so, it starts flickering then when over 2200 it goes off? Could this be the brushes? The alt meter is still showing good voltage though (like 16 or so) from idle on up???

mary Xmas may God bless you and your family

16 Volts!?!?!!? then its flikering becuase its overcharging... i had that problem when my regulator was bad my voltage meter was WAY!! up by the 18..
and the batt light was on...

chek your regulator.. bring it by napa or someplace have them test it for you its free .. and its soppose to be 14 Volts at idle.

maybe its not the brushes brushes will cuase low charge... regulator maybe going bad?

OK its probably not 16 volts, but it is where it always has been somewhere around 14 probably. And the light goes off when the rpms get higher, but the alt meter stays the same.
