My alternator light is flickering, but it is charging fine and the alt meter is showing normal voltage. I can see the meter jump when I have a load on it at idle, so I know its working.
chek the connection at the selenoid.. i had this trouble to and cheked the wires and saw it was loose.. so i got that fixed and no more flikering lights.. chek all the connections.. of the alternator
Checked the connection at the solenoid and it was fine. Here's and update...the light goes off when I rev the engine higher. It is no longer flickering when idleing, it is always on, then when the rpm goes over 1800 or so, it starts flickering then when over 2200 it goes off? Could this be the brushes? The alt meter is still showing good voltage though (like 16 or so) from idle on up???
16 Volts!?!?!!? then its flikering becuase its overcharging... i had that problem when my regulator was bad my voltage meter was WAY!! up by the 18..
and the batt light was on...
chek your regulator.. bring it by napa or someplace have them test it for you its free .. and its soppose to be 14 Volts at idle.
maybe its not the brushes brushes will cuase low charge... regulator maybe going bad?
OK its probably not 16 volts, but it is where it always has been somewhere around 14 probably. And the light goes off when the rpms get higher, but the alt meter stays the same.
strange.. but dont worry i had that problem also... its probley the alt is old and worn and the Amp is low.. have it cheked at a autoparts store for .. then post back
