tonight i was very upset by my old girl, while filling up at the station a couple of young kids pulled up in a std cab long bed 96 250. revving and yellingg "lets go!" they pulled up next to me and started to pump gas, the truck was a 351 4x4 with dual exhaust, no cat, hypertech chip, intake all on stock 265\75's i figured why not. we didnt do a side by side but i kicked it off from a light and put several truck lengths ahead on the start but then couldnt really pull away. 2nd gear was a little but into 3rd i couldnt pull away. we went again from 50mph and we hung even for a second then i pulled away a little then held even untill i hit the limiter in od. GGGRRRRR!!!!! frustrating! its just a little windsor! why!? i mean i know i'm turning 35's but i shouldnt have any p[roblems eating a little old 351 should i?
Time for more mods it sounds like I'm guessing the opponent's truck had a little more to it than they let on... the 351 isn't exactly known for being a powerhouse
i dunno, my best friend has a chevy 3/4 ton in it with a 350, and he can hang with me pretty good till i hit about 30 MPH and then i pull away really good. but another one of my buddys with a f-350 with the 5.4L can hang in there pretty god damn good, a little to close for comfort.
you have to remember these trucks are not made to go fast there pulling trucks.
it dosent matter if you win by an inch or a mile, a win is a win!

it didnt sound like it had anything done to it, just a noise maker, definatly stock cam, stock rockers, stock intakes, didnt even have headers on it. she was a basicly stock windsor. i have said before, my 460 truck would walk circles around my diesel, i would even venture to say it may havce even towed better too, with the exception of fuel economy. my 460 truck was a true american muscle truck. i made a few homemade mods and it was an incredible truck. i have had my hands on a fair share of 302's and the windsors are even nicer to get power from, it doesnt take much. my diesel has loads of torque but the horsepower is lacking. My wishlist has had stage 2's and a 17* pump along with a tw chip for a couple months now but i dont have 2500 bucks to invest right now
people talk about liking chevy, dodge ect....but when it comes to gas motors especially, i have never known anyone who had ever had a ford truck to work out of and would ever go back to anything else for any amount of time
the 351w has always been my favorite ford engine until I bought a powerstroke. now it is my favorite ford gas engine. they have good low end grunt and good speed also. they can easily be modified to either even beter.

the only thing i like better about my diesels over my 460's is they hold a lil better on a realllly long hill with a realllllly big load, and the fuel mileage....other wise the ole 460 would run off and hide. i know this will prolly offend people... but...i been on both sides, as has TJ and i will say that till i die. driving a 460 is like driving a sportscar when you push it down, if it will lock up...ur gone! oh..and i like black smoke.
