I work at a auto parts store, and when I was looking for a oil filter for it, it came up to two different ones for each brand that we carry. I believe one is for the Heritage model and the other one isn't, but I'm not sure. I'd sure hate to drain the oil and find that I have the wrong filter!! What is the number on Motocraft & Fram I should use?
The truck has 77,000 miles on it, should I still use 5W-20 oil?
What about Mobil 1 Synthetic? or the Castrol syntec? Anyone use it? Which one is better?

I beleive u need an FL-820S motorcraft that is what my 5.4 uses and I use 5/20 motorcraft synthetic blend oil at wally world here in the west runs $2.20 a qt or so.
I use the Motorcraft FL 820S filters on my 04 F-150, 02 Escape and 98 Towncar. It fits many later model Ford engines. The Town Car engine would be the same as a Heritage.
My Escape had over 100,000 miles on it and I still use the 5W20 Motorcraft synthetic blend and it uses none and the same with my low mileage F-150. I use 5W20 Motorcraft in my Town Car with 114,000 miles on it.
I know of no reason to spend the extra money for a synthetic. I would change the oil as recommended and not worry about it. I gave my daughter my old Park Avenue that now has over 180,000 miles on it and it still uses no oil and all it ever got was Dino oil.
The 820S will fit it? Those don't even come up in my computer as one that will work. If I remember right, it said that the threads on the oil filter screw were different.. one was SAE and the other was Metric

Absolutely correct! I've used only dino in many engines and they have easily made it to 300K miles with not the slightest problem. The Motorcraft 5W-20 is semi syn so this and the Motorcraft 820S will give many hundreds of thousands of miles of excellent sevice.
