Help with carburetor

i have just bought a 1978 ford F150 4x4 to restore. We have had some carburetor problems though. It leaked a little at first and eventually would not stay running unless stayed on the gas. We then rebuilt it but all the gas continues to leak even worse and leaks like a siv, ive been told. It even made it through the gasket sealer we used which prevents gas supposedly. Now we finally got it running but we have to continue to stay on the gas to keep it running. it sounds real bad and real rough and i need some serious help. if its a vacum leak what do i have to do to eliminate that and how do i keep it from leaking so bad. gas comes out of this metal rod at the top of the carb and falls in through the air throttle connected to the air filter. i have a major problem and need some serious help. thanks

Help with carburetor

Your problem is that the float needle is not stopping the fuel from overflowing into the carb bowl. You either have a bad float, a bad needle and seat, or something that is backwards or misadjusted. Refer to your carb kit instructions for float settings and make sure that all is set right.
