Your right.. 05+ tend to throw CEL.. 03-04 unless they are California Emission packaged will throw a CEL.. You can disable the EGR using Custom Tuning without throwing a code..
As far as I know its really not even worth disconnecting the EGR valve on the 05-07s. I dont remember the exact reason, but I know I read it on here somewhere.
I also have noticed that when I shut the truck off that the turbo makes a really quiet whistle. Can't notice from the inside, only if the door is open. That normal?
Un-educated question of the thread. What are the advantages of unpluging the wireing to the EGR for those of us running '03-'04 non-California trucks?
The turbo will spool a little faster, but not when you give it full throttle. It idles a little smoother and it prevents future problems caused by the EGR such as it getting stuck open
I pulled my EGR wire on my 2006 F250, but now my check engine light is on. I heard that this shouldn't happen. Any ideas?
Thanks
I did this on my 06 as well and got the CEL. Do a search for EGR. There is a super long thread with a ton of helpful info in it on whether to pull it or not. I remember there not being a huge benefit so I just plugged mine back in.

Basically like pluging the waste gate hose on older trucks, right? The motor doesn't bulid any more power...just builds it faster since the turbo spools faster. In a former career I drove a Kenworth that was powered by a C12, a mechinac friend of mine showed me the plug in the waste gate hose. The truck didn't pull any better, but the turbo was spooling up faster. If that is the case, I may go read the mini-novel thread that talks about the pros & cons of unhooking the EGR.
