Axle & transfer case oils

I have an 04 f-250 crew cab 5.4 L auto with 4:10 rears what oil and do I need to replace the cover gaskets or is RTV ok?

the best is 90-140 synthetic gear lube. use the same in the transfer case. rtv is ok, but dont use to much.,,,let it set for a while until it skins over before putting it back together.

90-140 synthetic is not correct. This from the 2004 Owner's Manual, available for download at

Front axle: Motorcraft SAE 80W-90 Premium RearAxle Lubricant
Rear axle : Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant
Transfer case fluid : Motorcraft MERCON ATF
