I have a 1998 F150 4.2L with 93,000 miles. Three days ago the truck began to miss when it is first started in the morning. After driving it for a couple of blocks, the engine runs OK.
I replaced the plugs, but that did not help. I noticed if the weather is cold and the trucks sits for several hours the engine misses until I drive it a couple of blocks.
Has a temperture sensor failed, or is an injector sticking when cold?
Thanks
I believe the Temp sensor would set a service engine code/light and a sticky injector would not be consistant due to the temp. Your problem could be several things including a bad wire or coil pack. Wires and Coils (spark requirements) have less demand once the engine has warmed up. Metal also expands when it warms up and can reduce or even stop a intake/vacumm leak or small head gasket problem. However, the problem could be valve seals, oil builds up while the engine is off and doesn't burn off allowing proper firing until the engine warms up.
