OK... We've all seen the lifts, dender flares, visors, wheels, etc.
After driving my wifes "new" 2003 Durango, I'm looking for some motivation to fix up my Bronco and bring it up to modern SUV specs... with more creature comforts.
I was curious about any other modifications, and what is involved.
Remember. Everybody loves pictures.
If you have links to the threads, maybe we can make this a sticky to help in searches.
Some things I can think of:
I've seen an explorer overhead console, which gives you inside and outside temps, and a compass, and other emenities.
I've also seen custom center consoles.
Has anyone installed heated power seats?
Or just better-designed seats? Mine are comfortable, but the leather is shot, and I hate readjusting them every time I flip it forward for the kids to get in back.
Speaking of that... Anyone install shoulder belts in the back of a Bronco without them?
Heated and/or power mirrors?
REar view mirrors with compasses / thermometers?
Overhead or headrest mounted DVD players
Stealthy subwoofer enclosures? I have a 12" tube that sounds good, but is always in the way, and pretty easily viewed for thiefs. Although it is easily removeable.
Lighted door locks?
Keyless entry / remote start?
Better headlights, reverse lights brake lights?
Roof rack?
Basically, what have you done or seen done that most haven't?
I used a jabsco waterpuppy water pump and a wand for on the trail power washing!!
The pump runs on 12 volt and I mounted the wand on the radiator support where
the old jack deal use to be. I had a big 8" sewer pipe mounted to the frame to hold
the water but I busted that crossing logs after all the hurricanes. It is nice to have when you are out mudding and your buddy roosts your radiator, Get out and spray
off the rad so it gets airflow and you don't overheat. It is really nice to have if you
break down out in the woods and have to repair an axle or bearing that is covered in
mud, dirt or sand. I am using gallon jugs to feed the water now but you could use a
filter sock and stick it in a stream to get water(pulls 4 foot) I plan on using a bunch
of 4" pvc on the frame rails so it will be closer and wont get broken as easily!!
I go four wheeling with this one guy that made his own rock sliders. They not only proctect under the door panels but the sides as well.
I wish I had some pictures but they are really cool cause they open and close with the doors. They can take on the rocks too!
I've done a couple things that I always get nice comments about. One that I think is the most practical is my center console cup holder. In my 87, the cupholders were useless so I made another cupholder, about 2 inches high with large holes, and mounted it over the console cupholders. This prevents anything from falling over and the holes are large enough for biggee size cups too. The other is an overhead console I made from pine shelving. It's similar to the 'shelf-it' overhead shelf but has a full front on it. I have my equalizer mounted up there along with switches for front and rear driving lights, a spots for sunglasses and a pair of tweeters.
I need to setup my gallery...I'll try and do that in the next couple days so I'll post the pictures up there and let ya know.
I do have keyless entry with remote start also. The remote start comes in handy on the mornings when there is a frost. I turn the defrost on each night so when the truck starts its ready to go!
Wow I really like that, im gonna do that to mine. I always liked the overhead display in my dads superduty. I just gotta find a way to steal the one out of my sisters explorer without her noticing lol haha, jk.
What about pod guages? I like them on my fathers powerstroke and im thinking about getting them on the bronco. Anyone do this? Im thinkin about trans temp, and air fuel mixture.
I test drove a 94 eddie Bauer Bronco today (351, auto, 4x4) with leather power lumbar seats, factory overhead console, power mirrors, push buttion 4x4, power windows (including back glass).
Didn't know if ya'll knew brocos came with all these options or if this was a extra option model.
Aside from a tricked out complete bedliner paint job (in progress), I will be adding a review camera to my Bronco. My truck sits high enough (rancho lift) that it makes it hard seeing children when I am backing out of the driveway. I backed into a little Honda a few years ago...even with my top off because Icould not see it...and yes I did check all of my mirrors.
Merry Christmas folks...I hope Santa brings many fun toys. God Bless!
